Katalin Vecsenyi-Berland, Ph.D., is the President/Founder of Family Support Source, the non-profit, parent-consulting organization. Katalin is a consultant, a lecturer and a writer to parents, teachers and health care professionals regarding child development, behavior modification and proactive parenting approach. Katalin has advocated and practiced proactive parenting for over 30 years. She earned her B.A. in Special Education and her Ph.D. in Child Psychology in Budapest, Hungary. She has taken graduate courses at the University of Oregon and at the University of Chicago. She also took an Internship at the Chicago Psychotherapy and Counseling Center.

Katalin had worked in Budapest for 10 years in a Child Counseling Center. She practiced play therapy and family therapy; and facilitated encounter groups for adolescents. She was a regular parenting contributor for the Family Magazine in Budapest, and appeared on national television shows for discussions regarding early childhood development and parenting issues.

Katalin arrived in the U.S. with her husband in 1983. She raised her three children in the Chicago area.
She published a book in Hungarian, My Maternity Leave in America, concerning her own experiences as a parent and as a professional woman living in the United States. As a direct result of the book, several parent/toddler groups were initiated all over Budapest.
